A Rainy-Day Romance in the Backyard

August 12, 2023, was one of those wedding days where love and intention outshone the weather. Held in the couple’s family backyard surrounded by lush forest, this intimate celebration was full of greenery, rustic charm, and personal touches. While the forecast called for rain all day, the skies miraculously cleared just in time for the ceremony—then picked back up again for dinner and photos!

The couple wanted a stress-free day, so we handled vendor coordination and full setup to let them stay in the moment. Kayla spent nearly four hours the morning of the wedding carefully building and decorating a white arbour filled with fresh baby’s breath—turning a simple structure into a breathtaking focal point. Knowing weather was a risk, the couple provided extra tents which we helped set up to keep their guests dry during the ceremony, just in case.

Two very important guests— their dogs—walked down the aisle and sweetly sat through the ceremony, adding an extra layer of heart to an already emotional moment. Inside the reception space, every table featured fresh eucalyptus and a sweet, nostalgic touch: a photo of the couple at the corresponding table number age.

The rain returned during dinner and portraits, but honestly, it only added to the magic. Chelsee Taylor’s photography captured the moody, cinematic feel perfectly—proving sometimes the best moments come from unexpected weather.
